Grégory Berben
Born in Cannes, Grégory BERBEN is a self-taught artist with a unique background. After a professional career spanning a dozen years in the sports world, he decided in the summer of 2009 to devote himself fully to his true passion: art. His vibrant, explosive and intense creations now travel around the world.

Grégory BERBEN draws his inspiration from the street, newspapers and everyday life, which he captures as snapshots of life. He gives new life to old urban posters, which he cuts, tears and assembles into original collages, veritable puzzles of images and words. The result: colourful, luminous and playful canvases, where a joyful, orderly disorder invites contemplation and dialogue.
His meticulous and abundant work combines acrylic, collage and markers. Each piece becomes an invitation to dream, a playground where images speak for themselves, challenge the viewer and encourage them to seek meaning and go further.

Always seeking innovation, the artist explores different worlds and series:
• ‘Un Autre Regard’ (Another View), collages with a geometric aesthetic and Scandinavian influences,
• The ‘Ocean’ monochromes,
• The ‘Brainstorming’ and ‘Chemins de Vie’ paintings,
• The ‘Couvre-Feu’ project, which recycles old televisions and computers into true works of art.
Based since 2015 in his studio in the historic Suquet district of Cannes, he enjoys the support of his hometown.

In 2023, Grégory BERBEN is launching a new major project: ‘Histoires de Vie’ (Life Stories), in collaboration with Colombian artist John Mejia. This series pays tribute to women and men who have led extraordinary lives, often marked by hardship, but always characterised by fighting spirit, strength and resilience. The first exhibitions began in February 2025 (Cannes, Salon de Provence, Grasse, Saint-Raphaël, etc.).
Cannes is in my DNA. I grew up there, between Stanislas, AS Cannes and the carefree Bad Boys years in Coubertin, marked by iconic places that shaped the identity of an entire generation: Le Whisky à Gogo, Studio Circus and Blitz…
Since 2015, my studio in Le Suquet has connected me to its history, its light and the Mediterranean. It is the city where my daughters were born, my home, my pride. Wherever I exhibit, the name Cannes travels with me and I carry it with passion.
