Novelty-Magnum-Dushow settles in Cannes
Since 2014, with his team, David Lisnard, President of the Agglomération Cannes Lérins and Mayor of Cannes, has been reinforcing the economic and cultural attractiveness of Cannes thanks to ambitious urban developments (Nouvelle Frayère 2020-2025, Bocca Centre, BoccaCabana, etc.) and future facilities in line with the Cannes On Air programme (Bastide rouge, Georges Méliès University Campus, Cinéum Cannes, etc.)
On Monday 20 June 2022, the Cannes Lérins Agglomeration and the Cannes Town Hall announced at a press conference that the Novelty-Magnum-Dushow group (European leader in image, sound and light) would be setting up on the former Ansaldobreda site, with the sale of the land via the Etablissement public foncier PACA for 14.6 million euros excluding tax. It is a very large-scale project on an international scale, with strong audiovisual and economic ambitions, which is thus being created in Cannes-La Bocca on 5.7 hectares. This operation will provide studios and audiovisual equipment, entertainment, logistics and storage spaces for events, television accommodation, etc., in line with David Lisnard’s ambition to make Cannes-La Bocca the capital of the image and writing professions. The delivery of the first buildings is estimated for 2025.
“The installation of Europe’s leading audiovisual company Novelty-Magnum-Dushow with this great and beautiful project, on a plot of land that has been a wasteland for a long time and that we have protected from real estate speculation, will be an important step in revitalising La Bocca and making Cannes the European capital of the audiovisual industry. This project will create values and jobs.”
David Lisnard, President of the Agglomération Cannes Lérins and Mayor of Cannes
Ansaldobreda: a site conducive to the expansion of the creative and audiovisual sector
On Monday 20 June 2022, David Lisnard, President of the Cannes Lérins Agglomeration and Mayor of Cannes, announced at a press conference the sale of the Ansaldobreda site to the Novelty-Magnum-Dushow group for €14.6 million before tax. A former industrial site specialising in railway repairs, the Établissement public foncier PACA, at the request of the Town Hall, bought the land to prevent any real estate speculation. In July 2019, in line with David Lisnard’s vision, the Novelty-Magnum-Dushow group informed the Commune of its desire to develop a large-scale activity in Cannes and to purchase the land. As the French and European leader in the image, sound, lighting and stage structure business, its installation will support the strategy of the Cannes Town Hall and the Agglomeration Community to develop the audiovisual and film industry in Cannes. Its project: to set up film sets, studios, post-production offices and a student residence to complement the existing housing offers thanks to the opening of the university residence on the Georges Méliès Campus site next fall.
This site will house more than 100 permanent employees and 300 entertainment professionals. After demolition and decontamination of the site, the delivery of the first buildings is estimated for 2025.
The project is part of David Lisnard’s Cannes On Air programme, which aims to provide the town with all the links in the audiovisual production chain: from content creation to projection, including training, filming and post-production.
